Railway earns Rs.4.08 cr revenue from ticketless 41,749 passengers in April

Railways aims at Zero Ticketless Travel in Ferozepur Division
Ferozepur, 04.05.2024: Continuous ticket checking is being done in trains by the ticket checking team of Ferozepur Division, to stop this trend of unauthorized passengers travelling in trains. A total of 41,749 passengers were found travelling without tickets or irregularly during ticket checking in trains during April 2024 by the ticket checking staff and chief ticket inspectors of the division and a revenue of Rs.4.08 crore was collected from them as fine.
The railway head office had given a target of Rs 3.20 crores to earn revenue through ticket checking to Ferozepur Division in April, however, due to the agitation by farmers at Shambhu Station of Ambala Division since 17th April, the train traffic was affected. Despite this, 28 per cent more revenue was earned than the target set by the ticket-checking staff of the Ferozepur division.
To keep the railway stations of the division clean and to prevent the general public from littering the stations and to make them aware of their cleanliness, regular checks are carried out at the main stations of the division. As a result, in April, 316 passengers were charged more than Rs.50,000 under Anti-Littering Act, for littering the station premises.
The ticket-checking staff of the Ferozepur division also perform social duty by helping passengers along with an increase in railway revenue, to increase the morale of ticket-checking staff dedicated to the work are awarded from time to time by giving certificates of appreciation. Now, the ticket-checking staff are making the passengers aware of the “UTS on Mobile” app during their duty on the train. Apart from the bonus of 3 per cent on booking unreserved tickets with this app, passengers can save their precious time by not queuing at the ticket counter.
Divisional Rail Manager Sanjay Sahu said that the ticket-checking campaign will continue in the Ferozepur Division. The main objective of ticket checking is to improve the sale of railway tickets and ensure that no passenger travels without a ticket i.e. zero ticketless travel in Ferozepur division. DRM while appreciating all the ticket-checking staff said that this was possible due to their collective efforts and hard work.
